How to play Temporal Tycoon

Temporal Tycoon is a strategy game about building a business empire across different eras of history. You manage resources, expand your holdings and adapt as the age changes around you, competing to outlast and outgrow 2-6 rivals. A full game runs 20-40 minutes and rewards long-term planning over quick wins.

  1. Start your empire in the first era

Each player begins with a small set of resources. The board moves through successive eras, and what is valuable in one age is not always valuable in the next.

  2. Invest and expand on your turn

Spend resources to acquire holdings, expand what you own, and set up income for future turns. Every purchase is a bet on what the coming era will reward.

  3. Adapt as the era changes

When the age advances, the value of different assets shifts. An empire built for one era can stall in the next, so flexibility matters as much as raw growth.

  4. Outgrow your rivals

Play continues across the eras until the game ends. The player who has built the strongest, most adaptable empire wins.

Frequently asked questions

How many players can play Temporal Tycoon?
Two to six. More players increase the competition for resources and make each era transition more disruptive.
How long does a game take?
About 20-40 minutes, depending on player count. It is longer than a typical party game because it rewards building over several eras.
What is the goal of the game?
To build the strongest business empire by the end. That means growing your resources while staying adaptable as the value of assets shifts from one era to the next.
Is it a game of luck or strategy?
Primarily strategy. Success comes from planning across eras, reinvesting well and reading what your rivals are building, rather than from chance.
